Our Vision

GEM envisions a growing body of media made available to educate around issues of gender and gender diversity. Media is the container in which we embed the information for the purpose of education.

GenderVision began with production of a video program series, distributed online and via Cable, a respected forum for discussions of issues of gender, including (but not limited to) transgenderism. GenderVision has completed production of 11 programs, most extended into two half-hour parts.

GEM also produces videos of significant activist events in the Boston area, including testimony before the State Joint Judiciary Committee in regard to proposed legislation towards Transgender Equal Rights, as well as other educational video addressing gender- and transgender-related issues.

GenderTalk was, for over 11 years, the world's leading forum for live discussions of issues of gender, including (but not limited to) transgenderism. GenderTalk is no longer in active production, but over 400 programs are archived online at gendertalk.com where it enjoys a growing listening audience. Our listening audience includes people of widely varying gender and identities, including both GLBT and heterosexual persons.

Our huge library of audio interviews comprises a significant and unparalleled resource whose value will increase over time. Educators frequently write us asking if they can use our archives in their courses to better educate their students about the complexity of gender issues.

Yellow Panther was a video production effort headed and inspired by Gordene O. MacKenzie. We produced a short musical flashback to the candlelight vigil for murdered transseuxal Rita Hester, which took place in November of 1998. The video is a moving presentation which dramatizes the suffering of those who grieve for trans victims of hateful violence, and is helpful in communicating to audiences on a powerfully emotional level.
"In Memory of Rita".
